You can learn to tango in one enjoyable weekend with our 8-hour intensive beginners course. This fun and friendly weekend is aimed at complete beginners - no dance experience necessary! By the end of the two days you'll be a tango dancer; there's no need to remain a beginner any longer. Expert dance instructors Miriam Gita and Stephen Vince give you all the structure and practise of a complete beginners course over one inspiring weekend made up of four sessions easily paced with a generous break for sociable, sit-down, pot luck lunch. The dance studio at Wood Farm is in beautiful rural Norfolk so you'll have plenty of opportunity to relax and enjoy the countryside. No need to bring a partner but booking in advance is essential so we can balance numbers. This intensive beginners weekend costs £80 per person. Tango makes you happy! But how does it do it? Tango is unique among partner dances for the shared axis. We give some of our weight to our partner in the embrace so that the mutual balance point is somewhere between the couple and both partners feel fantastically light and weightless as they move together. I feel like I'm flying when I dance apilado giving some of my weight to my partner, it's a really liberating feeling. But the real benefit of the shared axis is the sensitive mutual non-verbal communication we use to make it happen. This deep interpersonal interaction – sensitive shared cooperation with another person - in tango makes our bodies naturally produce positivity promoting organic chemicals, such as dopamine, as a result of this interaction. So tango promotes well-being and psychological health and keeps us happy.
We introduce the special ways that you can move to the music from the very start of your tango journey and continue that through every workshop that you will do with us. Early on we will introduce you to the 3 different types of tango music played at all social dances; tango, vals and milonga and the essential differences in the way you move to them.
From the very start of your tango journey we introduce you to the way in which you can strengthen your core, achieve posture and stand on one leg. The essential qualities to become a good and even a great sought after tango dancer. With the music these are always most enjoyable too.
