Tango intensives in the Norfolk countryside
An ongoing course including Tango, Vals and Milonga. Each class will start with 15 minutes of strengthening and flexibility exercises followed by a quick revision of the previous week's class. We believe that coming back to technique regularly reinforces it and achieves muscle memory more quickly. Then we will introduce these elements to various tango figures; the idea being to perfect the technique rather than to memorise the figure. Throughout these lessons the emphasis is always on your awareness and interpretation of the music. We will help you develop your own personal musicality and teach you how to express it with sensitivity and confidence. The class ends with a summary of what we have covered and an indication of what we might come across next time. More about our Tango tuition
Argentine Tango is an improvised dance based on changes in direction of its 3 basic steps. The aim of our teaching is to give each student the ability to dance instinctively and to gradually improve the outward appearance and inward feeling of each step taken. This is an endless process for everyone learning Argentine Tango from beginners and through all stages of the tango journey. It is first achieved through control of the right muscles. With the Joy of Tango you will be offered a fresh approach to achieve all of this in your tango dance.
The way we teach
Together Miriam Gita and Stephen Vince will identify the movements that are tango; posture, pivot and enrosque, isolation and dissociation, walk, giro, intention, embrace, axis and shared axis and so on and not necessarily in this order but equally throughout and always with an emphasis on control, correct use of the body and musicality.
Dancers of all levels will benefit from the course making what you have already learnt work much better. The earlier in your tango career that you take an Intensive Course such as this the better. Your muscle memory will then be in the right place as you dance, practice and take classes.
You will benefit from Miriam's high technical ability and detailed understanding of the ergonomics of the body gained in over 20 years of dance teaching and Stephen contributes a detailed extensive knowledge of the Argentine Tango vocabulary gleaned over 20 years from many of the very best tango maestros worldwide.
